Ten Tiny Breaths
From Goodreads: Kacey Cleary’s whole life imploded four years ago in a drunk-driving accident. Now she’s working hard to bury the pieces left behind—all but one. Her little sister, Livie. Kacey can swallow the constant disapproval from her born-again aunt Darla over her self-destructive lifestyle; she can stop herself from going kick-boxer crazy on Uncle Raymond when he loses the girls’ college funds at a blackjack table. She just needs to keep it together until Livie is no longer a minor, and then they can get the hell out of Grand Rapids, Michigan.
But when Uncle Raymond slides into bed next to Livie one night, Kacey decides it’s time to run. Armed with two bus tickets and dreams of living near the coast, Kacey and Livie start their new lives in a Miami apartment complex, complete with a grumpy landlord, a pervert upstairs, and a neighbor with a stage name perfectly matched to her chosen “profession.” But Kacey’s not worried. She can handle all of them. What she can’t handle is Trent Emerson in apartment 1D.
Kacey doesn’t want to feel. She doesn’t. It’s safer that way. For everyone. But sexy Trent finds a way into her numb heart, reigniting her ability to love again. She starts to believe that maybe she can leave the past where it belongs and start over. Maybe she’s not beyond repair.
But Kacey isn’t the only one who’s broken. Seemingly perfect Trent has an unforgiveable past of his own; one that, when discovered, will shatter Kacey’s newly constructed life and send her back into suffocating darkness.
What I Thought
Let me just start by saying I am immediately going to add K. A. Tucker's "One Tiny Lie" to my anxiously awaiting coming soon book list because I LOVED IT!!!
This book was crazy good.
I was on an emotional roller coaster. I laughed out loud and loved kacey.
"I should stalk over there and pee around his table to stake my claim".
Trent was incredibly sweet. Kacey kept referring to him as a bad boy but I never saw it.
Kacey had some serious issues. But what I loved is trent had more issues.
There were truly in an impossible situation. I could honestly relate to both situations.
They weren't being dramatic in not being together.
Once all the secrets were revealed I was seriously questioning myself on rather or not a relationship between them is healthy???
side note: I never did understand her mother's advice of ten tiny breaths instead of huge breaths.
"seize them feel them love them"
**Major Spoilers Ahead**
but please skip ahead and leave a comment.
For one Storm was just perfect wasn't she. nice. wonderful mother. instant best friend.
a big breasts smart and talented super barbie. Huge eye roll.
I hate that kacey just had a instant family of friends. It was too instantaneous. If she was this good at making friends, she would have had some left over from her Michigan
days. It was too perfect for her to be described a bitch so often. Or anti social. I'm just
saying.
But I loved trent. The level of guilt he was carrying around. And the issues he had as a result of that. I personally feel he trumped her hand issues and problem with shutting people out. He was obsessive and a literal stalker not like the cute sweet stuff. Like 2 years of following her from a distance before approaching. That's scary.
I mean he only loved her because of this crazy obsession right?
I mean I did not love this story any less because of his stalker past. But had he not gone out of his way to seek her out and just moved on with his life he wouldn't have feel in love with her in the first place. And honestly her love for him was result of his crazy Obsession. He knew to be patient about her hands and that she needed to heal.
I didn't really pay Livie much attention. She was insignificant. I mean I loved the love and honesty between the sisters but she did nothing to add to the story or move it along. But I will be reading "One Tiny Lie" because it sounds really interesting. I love follow ups about secondary characters. for example Perfect chemistry/ Rules of Attraction/ Chain Reaction. The Vincent boys/ The Vincent Brothers.
